After Summer on Gradina, Rijeka Summer Nights and a host of other happenings that turned streets and squares of Rijeka into stages and entertainment venues, Rijeka 2020 – European Capital of Culture now comes into the fold to help conceive and organise events this summer.
Smoqua, the Festival of queer and feminist culture, started in Rijeka today and over three days the audience will get the chance to attend a rich programme comprised of performances, workshops, public discussions and conversations, exhibitions and music.
Some of them include Jan Carson, Carys Davies, Andrei Kurkov, Flavio Soriga, Suzana Tratnik, Tea Obreht, Ben Okri, Inga Žolude and others.
Lesbian organisation Rijeka LORI in collaboration with PaRiter, Građanke svom gradu, the Centre for Women’s Studies of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka and Rijeka 2020, as part of the Kitchen flagship, is organising the second edition of the Smoqua festival of queer and feminist culture from 17 to 19 May 2018.
As part of the Kitchen flagship of the Rijeka 2020 – ECOC project and the (Re)Discovering Europe project, Luigi Pirandello’s “The Mountain Giants”, directed by Paolo Magelli, will premiere on 2 March 2018 in the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl.
On 14 December, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art opens the Black Disguises exhibition, as part of the Risk Change international project.
