Asja Bakić: “Sezona” (Lopar)

Authorial Boras

Lopar was used as inspiration for the story “Sezona” (The Season) by: Asja Bakić

Lopar

The area of Lopar on the north of the island of Rab has been inhabited since the Stone Age, and the wind, sea and bursts of water formed an interesting indented landscape with incredible beaches. The peninsula of Lopar is special for its geological diversity and uniqueness compared not just with the rest of the island, but the entire Adriatic coast. The cultural entertainment project closely related to sand, or the so-called “Lopar mel” is the Sand Sculpture Festival next to the great Rajska plaža (“Paradise beach”). Lopar is known for pure and untouched nature, but also as the birthplace of St. Marinus, a stonemason and founder of the world’s oldest republic – San Marino.
Nearly 1,300 people permanently reside in Lopar.
