Last week 29 participants from host city Timişoara, Novi Sad and Rijeka participated in the first Lab for European Project Making with Cristina da Milano and Francois Matarasso as mentors/coaches.
On 24 November, as part of Rijeka’s preparations to be the first Croatian city to adopt Agenda 21 (also known as Culture 21), the international programme which focuses on 21st century urban development through sustainable development and governance, RIJEKA 2020 LLC has organised a presentation of the Pilot Cities Programme in cooperation with United Cities and Local Governments.
Bernadette Lynch feels that it is important to establish cooperation in the full sense of the word in order to reduce the odds that someone will perceive the project as something foreign with which they cannot identify.
On Friday, 24 November in Rijeka, as part of the conference on participatory governance, a meeting was held between all Croatian European Capital of Culture 2020 candidate cities in order to determine potential areas of cooperation on the Rijeka 2020 – ECOC project.
"Activities aiming to defend public spaces from lucrative interests are welcome, but it does not stop there – it is equally important to realise civil entrepreneurial practices through which public spaces are transformed for the needs of the community."
The usual, standard concept of decision making regarding social topics has proven to be too one-dimensional in its pursuit of answers to questions of public importance.
With the intention to contribute to the development of new governance models of cultural resources in Croatia, Kultura Nova Foundation and Rijeka 2020 LLC in partnership with University of Rijeka are organizing the “New Governance Models of Cultural Resources” seminar which will take place in “Akvarij” at the Campus of University of Rijeka from 19th to 21st November 2017.
