The Choir for Everyone programme was born out of the idea to bring choir singing out into the streets of Rijeka and closer to our townspeople.

Choir singing and outstanding renditions of music written by Croatian composers, ranging from classical, traditional, and folk music, to modern arrangements of popular contemporary music, will hopefully encourage everyone to sing along while enjoying the compositions that will echo through the streets of Rijeka.

Last year’s event has motivated the members of the Val Rijeka Chamber Choir to organise the event in spite of the challenging conditions. This year’s programme will be held in partnership with the following choirs: the Gimpl Mixed Choir from Ravna Gora (conductor: Žaklina Majetić Mufić), the Lira Women’s Vocal Group from Rijeka (conductor: Frane Frleta), the Štorija Mixed Choir from Matulji (conductor: Marta Karolina Cader), and the Schola Cantorum choir from Rijeka (conductor: Ingrid Haller).

The four choirs will have a 10-minute showcase each, at four squares in Rijeka: Square of the 128th Brigade of the Croatian Army, Principium Square, Matija Vlačić Flacius Square (Tea Square), and Pavlinski Square. The audience is invited to attend and participate in the programme at one of the squares, as the choirs will alternate and perform at all the venues.

The Val Chamber Choir from Rijeka will open the event on the steps by the Bonavia Hotel, with a guest performance by the Kap Children’s Choir. Both performances will be conducted by Doris Kovačić.

Take a stroll through the backstreets of Rijeka between 10 a.m. and 12 a.m. and participate in the choral festivities.
