The opening ceremony of The Days of North Macedonian culture, a traditional manifestation that during the many years of its existence has become the crown jewel of all the activities of the Macedonian Cultural and Artistic Association Ilinden from Rijeka, will take place on Saturday, 21 November 2020, at 7 pm at Export at the Delta.

The same evening will see a performance by the musician Zoran Majstorović, followed by a solo photography exhibition entitled “Man in his space” by Gordana Kvajo.

The visitors will also be able to enjoy a literary evening at the literature festival entitled “Friends of Book Days” organised in cooperation with the Croatian Literary Society from Rijeka, which is also the perfect stage for presenting award-winning books and writers, and for a poetry marathon to unfold.

MKD Ilinden is the first North Macedonian association in the Republic of Croatia, celebrating its 30th jubilee next year thanks to the efforts of a group of enthusiasts who have lain the groundwork for its development, and to all its members who, in an organised manner, continue their work on the preservation of North Macedonian tradition, culture and spiritual life in Rijeka and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County! Cherishing the rich cultural heritage of North Macedonia, the association includes folklore, musical, vocal, ethno and children’s sections, while it is also involved in other activities related to publishing, organising concerts, poetry nights, exhibitions etc.

MKD Ilinden members like to point out how proud they are of being able to live and work in a multicultural city – Rijeka, the European Capital of Culture 2020, while their Days of North Macedonian culture continue in December at the Association’s premises in Matačićeva Street, right next to the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc.

Members of the audience will be able to enjoy a Revue of North Macedonian film entitled “Kinoteka Makedonije” (“North Macedonian film archive”) (4.12. at 6 pm), followed by an all-evening concert of MKD Ilinden’s musical and vocal sections entitled “Večer makedonske pjesme” (“An Evening of North Macedonian Songs”) (18.12. at 8 pm), and a cultural manifestation geared towards their youngest members, „Detska radost“ (“Children’s joy”) (19.12.).
