This exhibition of artists from Neuss and Rijeka to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their partnering as sister cities presents works by Melanie Richter, Stefanie Minzenmay, Vera Lossau, Nikola Ukić, Igor Eškinja, Slaven Tolj and Nemanja Cvijanović.

The exhibition City and Transformation by artists from Neuss and Rijeka, organised to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the partnering of the two cities, opens at 8 p.m. The works of Melanie Richter, Stefanie Minzenmay, Vera Lossau, Nikola Ukić, Igor Eškinja, Slaven Tolj and Nemanja Cvijanović will be exhibited.

The exhibition was initiated by the city of Neuss in collaboration with the Alte Post cultural forum in Neuss and was originally scheduled to open on 25 April this year in Neuss. The opening of the exhibition was cancelled due to the coronavirus, which makes it an even greater pleasure to host these artists in the Kortil Gallery in Rijeka, the European Capital of Culture for the year 2020.

The title City and Transformation shines a light on the city, with the selection of the works reflecting the theme of the city in very different ways and offering a space for discourse.

Klaus Richter, director of the Alte Post cultural forum, is curating the exhibition with the support of two artists from Neuss – Stefanie Minzenmay and Melanie Richter – together with Vera Lossau, who will also be featured in the exhibition. Croatia is represented by our famous artists Igor Eškinja, Nemanja Cvijanović, Slaven Tolj and Nikola Ukić.

“The history of every city is always the history of transformation.” Vladimir Vidmar, exhibition catalogue
