The City of Rijeka presented its candidacy for the European Capital of Culture 2020 at the international conference of the Les Rencontres network, held in the French city of Lille. The conference was organised by the City of Lille, the 2004 European Capital of Culture, the region of Nord-Pas de Calais and the European cultural network Les Rencontres.
