Due to the great public interest in the Rijeka premiere of the documentary film Galeb, written and directed by Ivan Živković Žika, which took place on 11 November at Art-kino, three additional film projection dates have been added – 17, 19 and 20 November, beginning at 5.30 pm.

The film Galeb tells the story of a ship used by the president of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito, on his 14 voyages to 18 countries in three continents, where it docked in 29 ports, during 479 days of navigation. He used these voyages to establish the Non-Aligned Movement, one of the largest alliances of world countries, which was second only to the United Nations and, at the time, the third bloc of the Cold War. Many major world powers entered the alliance, including: India, Indonesia and Egypt, while the alliance also gathered a large number of the then-decolonised countries of the world. Yugoslavia was at the helm of the Non-Aligned Movement, with Tito as their leader.

The documentary Galeb is not here to evaluate, or even to fully inform us about the intriguing history of the time, but to provide a glimpse of the atmosphere, the politics, the voyages and the exotic countries, using the wealth of available archival material of that time.

Ivan Živković Žika is a Croatian journalist, TV director, documentary film producer and screenwriter, born in Šibenik in 1982. His directorial debut was the film entitled Ćiro, a documentary film about Miroslav Ćiro Blažević from 2006, while he also directed three films in the documentary quadrilogy Varoški amarcord.
