The “URK” Cultural Development Association/Club Močvara and Distune Promotion present: SWAMP UP RIJEKA!, a gung-ho alternative music showcase in the Year of Culture!

Swamp Up Rijeka! is an all-night open-air concert featuring performances by acclaimed Croatian alternative bands. These original artists offer a fresh new sound, don’t shy away from experimentation, and, with an enviable number of gigs behind them, they are bound to put on a great show. Outside Exportdrvo on Friday 11 September, the audience from Rijeka and beyond are in for a smorgasbord of genres delivered by ABOP from Zagreb, Lovely Quinces, Rijeka’s own Flip Flop Fatality and Nemanja, a Zagreb-based artist from Pula.

ABOP (Zagreb)
ABOP from Zagreb are coming to Rijeka hot on the heels of releasing their new album “△” (aka Delta). The band’s electrifying electronica performed live on stage – their natural habitat – has earned them the reputation of being an exciting and intriguing presence on the Croatian music scene, with shows that guarantee an ecstatic world-class spectacle.

LOVELY QUINCES (Zagreb)
Lovely Quinces is another familiar name among concertgoers in Rijeka, but this time Dunja Ercegović is not flying solo. She has put together a fantastic band comprised of members of She Loves Pablo and Punčke, with the addition of Marko Mrakovčić. They have released their first EP, which they are itching to perform live. It should also be noted that this will be the band’s Rijeka debut and only their third show ever.

NEMANJA (Pula)
The Pula musician Luka Šipetić, aka nemanja, will be attending, having released his brand-new studio album “Cosmic Disco”. The album, which is inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead, as well as the sounds of Thai funk, Italo disco, chicha cumbia, Anatolian rock, dub and Afrobeat, fits in perfectly with the concert’s ambience.

FLIP FLOP FATALITY (Rijeka)
Then, of course, we have the trio Flip Flop Fatality, one of Rijeka’s best bands at the moment, who will dish out a unique setlist that fuses psychedelic math rock with noise and ambient parts.

The main ideas behind this programme, which was created specifically for the occasion of Rijeka holding the title of European Capital of Culture, are enhancing the cultural offering in this special year for Rijeka, and drawing parallels between Zagreb and Rijeka, or more precisely, between what Club Močvara has been building on the banks of the Sava and what Rijeka has been living on the banks of the Rječina.
