“Pleased to Meet You”, platform for meetings, get-togethers and exchange starts on Drenova

This November, as part of the 27 Neighbourhoods flagship, small local neighbourhood community get-togethers are starting. They are called “Pleased to Meet You”, and their aim is to enhance communication between teams, share experiences and knowledge, and support local neighbourhood events.

The first such gathering will take place on 22 November on Drenova, a very active neighbourhood in Rijeka which is ahead of the times regarding the choice and current relevance of the topics they are focused on.

For the beginning of this initiative, the community on Drenova prepared a programme called “Crazy, Crazier, Craziest – Weather or Meteorology Enthusiasts?” which will take place on 22 November at 6 PM in the Heritage Museum of Drenova (Drenovski put 138a).

The neighbourhood gathering on Drenova takes place at the same time as the ninth session of the Mediterranean Climate Outlook Forum, a programme run by the World Meteorological Organisation with the aim of increasing the availability of user-friendly climate services. The conference, taking place on 23 November, will be attended by 40 scientists and seasonal prognosis experts from European, Asian and African countries on the Mediterranean.

The Drenova neighbourhood shifts the focus from dominant strategies to meteorology that belongs to the community. Besides, talking about the weather is always fascinating, it’s something you can discuss with a total stranger, and in some cultures these conversations are part of their national identity. In any case, the weather, forecasts, microclimate circumstances and the survival of the automated weather station network maintained by meteorology enthusiasts will be part of the informal get-together in this community.
