In many European countries, as well as in Croatia, there is a dominating trend of reducing public funds for culture, which is why cultural institutions and organizations increasingly turn to sources of funding from the private profit sector. Then again, culture and the business sector often do not speak the same language or are not connected at all. That is what we want to help them with!
Business 2 Culture conference is intended for cultural workers and businessmen. Its goal is to encourage dialogue, exchange experience from both sides and examples of good practice, and identify challenges related to financing culture from the private profit sector.
Conference topics are the following:
How does funding look from the perspective of those seeking funding? How do sponsors and donors decide which projects to support? What do they expect from each other?
To these and other questions, conference participants will receive answers through lectures and panel discussions. We will also provide them with lots of opportunities for informal mixing, networking and pitching of ideas. In order to prepare culture workers for “talks” with business sector representatives, we have developed a pre-conference program.
Lecturers and panellists are representatives of important cultural institutions and prominent Croatian businessmen, as well as members of ECoC city teams Mons 2015 and Leeuwarden 2018, which will demonstrate how the European Capital of Culture project can encourage cooperation between the business and cultural sector.
The conference will be held in Croatian, except for the third panel, which will be in English. The entrance is free.
